I’m back from my hols. I love Devon, it’s the county of the famous cream teas and picture post card villages and has three of the top beaches in Europe.

With a bit of traffic it took us 7 hours to drive just under 200 miles (321 km), but it was worth it.

On passing Stonehenge we noticed the police were getting ready for the summer solstice which is some time next week, so that ruled out our stopping by (including the journey back).

I have to admit that I had my shirt off in the sun so my newly waxed back could have a touch of sun on it (for the first time since I went ape-like), so I’m also a little sore.

As far as I’m concerned the south-west counties epitomize the heart and soul of true Britain. Devon and Cornwall have been our first and sometimes our last line of defence through the ages. With it’s rugged coastline and weathered people it has always stood fast no matter what.

I have so much to write and pictures to post but for now I need to get it all organized so I will stop here and get on with the norm.

Devon, wow that's only 90 minutes from me, glad you had a good time and did you go on the steam train in Paignton?

I finally did it. I got my back waxed. Didn’t hurt a bit, well maybe a little bit. Okay, it hurt a lot. But I did it!

Now I can be off for a week in the sun and sit by the pool and not get a complex when a little kid points at me and says to her mum, ‘’how do they get gorillas to drink out of a straw’’.

I’m packed, in fact I’ve been ready all week.
